    Description:
From the mountain hut of Merveilles (2130 m), follow the base of the dam at the Long Superior lake. At its end, ignore the left pathway running along the lake, and climb Northeast on a tiny pathway with cairns. The direction will bend Northwest, then North in a rocky mountain depression to reach the map point 2268.
Leave the main trail and take the other tiny pathway that goes up North towards a characteristic grassy corridor.
Go on your right along the trail with cairns to a pebbly plateau, and continue Northwest to reach a tiny pathway with cairns that leads to the summit of mount Bégo. You will have to cross a steep rocky passage to reach it by its Southern slope (2872 m).
From the summit, descend a few meters by turning North-Northwest to join a tiny pathway with cairns, sometimes aerial, that follows approximately the ridgeline and will continue to lose altitude Northwest until reaching the top of a large mountain depression.
The pathway will then turn West by passing under the Pollini peak to descend by short zigzags on the mountain pass of Valmasque (Baisse de Valmasque, 2549 m-beacon 94).
From there, take the GR52 South which descends into the valley of Merveilles (Vallée des Merveilles) to the beacon 93 (2176 m). Continue on the red and white markings of the GR to arrive at the mountain hut of Merveilles (Refuge des Merveilles).
